Colorado Boomerangs

(by Jim Mayfield)

Rainier (Lower) / Yanaki (Upper) Everest Delicate Arch Kilimanjaro
Fast Catch Crested Butte E-rang Super E-rang (weighted) Glacier Aspen

The Rainier ($19.95) would be my first recommendation for beginners -- relatively short range (25yds) and round flight path. (Pictured on the bottom of this photo.)

A great economy choice would be the Aspen, Green on one side and Orange on the other is unusual in that it can be thrown with either side up ($14.95, also shown above in the color/model chart) or the new Glacier ($11.95). Both these booms are geared toward easy throws and catches for the novice. The great price also allows you to afford to get two and share one with a friend!

The Yanaki ($18.95) would be my first recommendation for best all-around boomerang. Larger (45yds) elliptical flight path is graceful and elegant. Heaver (requiring a bit firmer toss) design which is a bit trickier to catch without getting bitten, but easy, reliable catches are a given for the experienced thrower. (Pictured on the top of this photo.)

The Everest ($19.95) is a great climber and hoverer. Heaver (like the Yanaki) it takes a firmer toss, but is easier to catch from the start because of its remarkably long (high) hovering descent. An excellent variation on the classic V-shape.

The Delicate Arch ($29.95 -- 65yd range) and Kilimanjaro ($25.95 -- 70yd+ range) are for experienced throwers only. A very firm and consistent toss is required (as well as a thorough warm-up session beforehand). No exceptions. Any slight inconsistencies are greatly magnified over the breath-taking range of these designs. Make sure you've got PLENTY of space when throwing these. They make even the largest areas seem much smaller!

Fast Catch ($24.95 - 20yd range) Took me about 45min to get the hang of this one's sweet spot, but it was well worth it. Fast and fiery. It'll do you in if you're not careful! Best when thrown hard, it comes in fast and low. This one has given me the best taste of how demanding (and rewarding) fast catch can be.
Fast Catch (RH) - Color #1
Fast Catch (RH) - Color #2
Fast Catch (RH) - Color #3
Fast Catch (RH) - Color #4 - SOLD

The Crested Butte ($18.95 - 25yd range). Classic "V" design w/wild graphics. Good all-around fun.

The E-Rang ($21.95 - yd30 range). Unusual look (with the "dot" in the center when it's in flight), but same great performance as most other Colorado Boomerang models.
E-Rang (RH) - Color #1
E-Rang (RH) - Color #2 - SOLD
E-Rang (RH) - Color #3

Now also available in a weighted model, the Super E-rang.
