AIR FLOW 215 : Now anyone can Kite Surf

The sport of Kitesurfing has exploded into the world and this new radical board sport has been considered a somewhat unreachable sport. Just like windsurfing a kiteboard uses wind energy and on a whole the boards used up until know have looked like small sailboards, limiting the accessibility of the sport to experienced windsurfers only.

The Bic Sport philosophy is to offer accessible products to the maximum possible number of users. Bic Sport has achieved this and by doing so taken the kite surfing theory and rewritten it with a completely different concept in kiteboard design.

Working with BIC Sport shaper Marco Copello has developed the AIRFLOW 215 a board that utilizes the new concept of asymmetric Twin Tip design. This innovative shape is simple, while performing without requiring gibes. This board is designed to ride in either direction.

With the AIRFLOW 215, BIC SPORT has finally opened the Kite Surfing sport to everybody. The BIC Sport AIR FLOW 215 is an excellent starting board that will ensure the user progresses fast and reaches a higher level of performance in light wind.

Bic Sport Airflow 215
(Asymmetric Twin Tip)

THE HIGH POINTS

1.The rider is located in a central standing position on the board : Providing excellent handling and control of the board during rotations and maneuvers while maintaining increased stability when compared to a classic symmetric kiteboard.

2. To change direction jibe is not needed. Foot position of the rider don’t change. The foil has to be simply flown in the other way and the board will follow in the opposite direction as it is specially designed to do so.

3. Limited length, but adequate buoyancy : Its volume and length are limited, but because of his shape and the position of the surfer, the Air Flow 215 offers excellent ability to plane in the lightest of wind along with good floating ability in the lulls and light breeze.

4. Rockered windward side The AIR FLOW 215 is asymmetric with its windward side containing lots of rocker to ride nicely through the waves.

THE TECHNICAL SIDE

Twin Tip concept : Twin Tip describes a symetrical shape from front to back. This means that if the board was cut in half from side to side, each half would look like the other. This ensures the board will ride exactly the same way no matter what direction it is travelling in.

Asymmetry : is within the length of the board from side to side. This means that if the board was cut in half alone its length, each half would be different to the other. On the heel side the rocker is relatively flat with lengthwise channels cut under the feet and on the rail to make upwind riding easier. On the windward side, the board is quit rockered to ride smoothly and not catch when riding through waves and chop.

The fins are also assymmetrically positioned. Two fins are situated on the rail on the heel side under the feet, measuring 12 cm. These are used to resist side ways movement while riding across the wind. There are also two 9 cm fins placed either side of the standing position to further resist sideways movement.

Peter Lynn KiteBoat

Here it is!! Everyone has been asking about it and waiting for it. The first production KITEBOAT will be here soon. No loose parts and no lengthy assembly time will make the KITEBOAT a solution for simple kite sailing.

The single hull is the size of an average size windsurf board with a fixed seat position and four steering fins. The 2 rear fins steer the opposite of the front fins giving instantaneous response. It is equally at home in shallow water and large waves due to the specially designed curved nose and reduction of volume in the back part of the board. The speed of the KITEBOAT can be compared to what a windsurf board can attain.

KITEBOATING is as easy as buggying and there is more than enough water around.
