The Quadrifoil Competition X series of foils is the second generation of this leading quad-line racing foil. They are computer designed, utilizing the most advanced principals of aerodynamics. Alain Hoffer of Active People in France developed this foil with the aim of achieving outstanding, smooth performance. There will be six new foils in this series to provide a kite for every conceivable wind range. The Competition X is designed for extreme performance and as such is meant for the experienced flyer.
These new foils have been reshaped for better control, while a thinner profile, with more cells for a harder surface, allows better upwind penetration. The construction, as with the first generation of Competitions, is the finest in the industry with reinforced seams, mylar reinforcing tape on the trailing edges and inlet ports, reinforced attachment points and reinforced cross venting ports for blowout protection.
The optional supplied response enhancing rings bring the brake lines closer to the power (top) lines at the kite, thereby causing the foil to react much faster and generate more power. Without the rings the foil is more stable in gusty winds but does not respond as quickly to the pilot's input, giving the pilot more time to react.
The overall result is a new series of extremely high quality foils with superior upwind and light wind capability -- smooth, solid acceleration that is much easier to control in questionable winds and a very high top end. The Competition X series of kites are not beginner's kites. They are a very demanding, high performance engine for the experience pilot. Become acquainted with this kite, its handling characteristics, and its breath-taking acceleration before attempting a full out run. The results will speak for themselves.

This control boom from Advance Kites incorporates unique flexible "universal joints" to enable varied control input for maximum response. Flight control is closer to using "handles" than a fixed boom. Lines can be easily adjusted when flying using the built-in cleat system.
